Marina Perezagua is a young Spanish short story writer and university teacher at New York University. She earned a degree in Art History from the University of Seville. After graduation she moved to the United States on a PhD scholarship in Philology, and for 5 years she taught language, literature and history classes at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her first book of short stories Criaturas abisales (2011) was received with critical acclaim, receiving the Prize Príncipe de Asturias 2013, an award given to individuals who made notable achievements in humanities and sciences.
