From Venice with Love: Fête Gede

Festival of the Ancestors / Day of the Dead
An African ancestral tradition preserved in Haiti

Join us for an evening surrounded by the work of Edouard Duval-Carrié—with galleries filled with his art and projections illuminating The Betsy Orb. The night features music by DJ Gardy and authentic Kreyòl paella prepared fresh on site. Costumed guests are invited to enjoy one complimentary rum cocktail, courtesy of Bacardi.

DJ Gardy is a Haitian DJ, producer, and singer known for bridging traditional Caribbean sound with contemporary electronic music, including his signature “Rara Tech” style.

Join the spirit of the night Top hats or bowler hats, purple headscarves and sashes, wooden walking sticks or staffs adorned with skulls, and face paint in white, purple, and/or black -- and for the ultimate finishing touch: one-eyed sunglasses.

With special thanks to our program partners: The Betsy Hotel; Plutzik Goldwasser Family Foundation; Jorge Perez Family Foundation CreARTE; FIU Public Humanities Lab; Miami Beach Urban Studios; Iris Photo Collective; Studio of Edouard Duval-Carrié; Bacardi; Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.
