An evening at The Gallery at The Betsy devoted to Haiti: its art, its advocates, and the creative spirit that carries both forward. Lesley Goldwasser, Curator and Co-Owner of The Betsy, hosts. The evening opens at 6:30 PM with a reception honoring the vision and work of the Ayiti Community Trust (ACT), with welcome remarks from Carl Juste, Special Projects Curator and Founder of Iris Photo Collective.Dr. Rebecca Friedman of FIU Public Humanities Lab moderates a curated conversation on what it means to collect, steward, and champion Haitian art — across markets, museums, memory, and the diaspora — at a moment when who holds these works shapes how Haiti's story is told. Joined by Dr. Edward J. Sullivan, Édouard Duval-Carrié, and Franklin Sirmans, the panel 'The Power & Realities of Collecting Haitian Art' examines the forces behind the art and the people who keep it alive.
