Alessandro Vettori is a professor of Italian and comparative literature at Rutgers University. He is the author of over 18 articles, edited/co-edited three volumes, and three single-authored manuscripts, the most recent being "Dante's Prayerful Pilgrim: Typologies of Prayer in the Comedy."
His main research interests are: autobiography, the re-writing of scripture in the western tradition, the interconnectedness of literature and religion, eco-criticism, and the development of the concept of love in the Italian literary tradition.
He has published a book on Franciscan poets of the thirteenth century entitled "Poets of Divine Love" (Fordham University Press, 2004).
