Jazz in the Sanctuary: Assel Jean-Pierre Jr. Trio

  • Little Haiti Cultural Complex 212 Northeast 59th Terrace Miami, Florida, 33137 United States (map)

Little Haiti Cultural Complex invites you to an afternoon with the Assel Jean-Pierre Jr. Trio, a dynamic ensemble led by Haitian-American pianist, composer, recording artist, and educator Assel Jean-Pierre Jr. Blending jazz with Haitian, gospel, classical, and contemporary influences, the trio creates performances shaped by virtuosic musicianship, soulful improvisation, and heartfelt storytelling.

The performance takes place at the Little Haiti Cultural Center, set against the backdrop of Woosler Delisfort’s photography exhibition, “SANCTUARY: Our Sacred Space,” a moving exploration of the spiritual origins of Miami’s Indigenous, African, and Caribbean communities—capturing moments of divine connection in temples, churches, and mosques, and illuminating the sacred spaces these communities continue to build in Miami.

Performance sets: Set 1: 2:30–3:15 PM | Set 2: 3:45–4:30 PM

This event is part of The Bridge—a partnership between the FIU Public Humanities Lab, IPC ArtSpace / iWitness, and The Betsy Writers Room—and aligns with the community-wide public programming surrounding Edouard Duval-Carrié’s retrospective “From Venice with Love” at The Betsy Hotel.
